In this position, you will perform a variety of skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of MEC’s distribution and fiber system. The work will involve operating overhead and underground construction and electric facilities equipment. You will make recommendations to the lineman in charge and communicate in a positive matter with members and co-workers. This position is subject to additional after-hours work and all other duties as assigned.
Key responsibilities include:
Constructing, repairing and maintaining overhead and underground electric distribution equipment
Performing maintenance in substations and on transmission lines.
Perform service work as needed
Various customer service duties including voltage testing, troubleshooting outages, making service changes, performing disconnects/reconnects and MISS Digs
Maintaining electric line right-of-way clearance by removing trees and brush and mowing

You must have a high school diploma or GED and have successfully completed an electric lineman apprenticeship training program. You must possess a valid class A CDL and DOT physical medical card.You must have a working knowledge of the National Electric Code and OSHA Regulations. You must have a thorough understanding or able to obtain within one year an understanding of RUS specifications.

Wages: $41/hour, increases subject to union contract.
Comprehensive insurance with minimal cost sharing and 401k plan with 8% employer contribution
Paid Time Off: Earn immediately 5.85 hours/pay and additional sick leave and holiday time off. By 4thyear earn 29 days annually.

Work Location/Shift: Adrian, Michigan 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. M/F, will need to be available for after-hours outage response and other work related commitments.
